Neil Percival Young, OC, OM (* 12. November 1945 in Toronto) ist ein kanadischer Musiker, Singer-Songwriter und Filmemacher. Seit Januar 2020 besitzt er zusätzlich die US-amerikanische Staatsbürgerschaft. Er wird als bedeutender Folkmusiker genannt, aber auch als „Godfather of Grunge“ bezeichnet. Seine Musik umfasst weitere Genres wie Rock- und Country-Musik.

Youngs Karriere begann 1966 mit der Band Buffalo Springfield. Er tritt mit der Band Crazy Horse, aber auch solo und mit anderen Künstlern auf, insbesondere mit Crosby, Stills, Nash (& Young). Seine kommerziell erfolgreichsten Titel sind Heart of Gold und Rockin’ in the Free World. Er hat 45 Studioalben, 27 Livealben sowie diverse Kollaborationsalben, Soundtracks und EPs veröffentlicht.
