Kurzbeschreibung:

John Paul Steckler VII. hat im Zweiten Weltkrieg den USA als Leutnant der Marine gedient. Nach Kapitulation des Feindes heiratet er, nun Zivilist, und ist im Begriff mit der frisch Angetrauten in die Flitterwochen zu starten. Doch da funkt ihm die Militärpolizei dazwischen, mit der energischen Nachfrage nach dem Verbleib eines Zerstörers, der unter seiner Verantwortung herumschipperte. Binnen Wochenfrist muss John die Amnesie überwinden, wo denn nun genau das fragliche Kriegsschiff gesunken ist.
